Did you know that there are at least three adhesives used in every roll of bath tissue or paper towel?
From the paperboard core to the top sheet, adhesives bring form and function that is essential to every roll.
When the paper is being converted to that tissue or towel, there may be lotions, anti-virals, perfumes, embossing, and printing added to the product yet adhesives are required to convert the paper. These processes are not so obvious to the end-user but contribute immensely to the overall quality of the product on how easily the paper releases, how well the paperboard core stays in tack, and how well the roll keeps its shape.
The adhesive processes include core winding, transferring and tail-tie. The adhesive and the application method used at each step in the converting process really make the difference:
- Core winding – The paper tube is formed using either hot melt glue, dextrin-based or polyvinyl acetate-based adhesives depending product specifications, yet all of our adhesives allow for high-speed production, fast-drying, and stable rigidity.
- Pick-up (Transfer) – For excellent machining and clean processing, our adhesives provide excellent release and tack that works great on surface winders or center wind machines and have no staining, even for spray applications.
- Tail-sealing (Tail Tie) – The last step to a finished roll, our adhesives give the top sheet just the right wet tack and excellent release no matter what adhesive application used.
HAR Adhesive Technologies supplies any kind of adhesive used for bath tissue and paper towel converting, including hot melts, water-based adhesives and the standard dextrin line. These specially formulated adhesives offer excellent mileage and quick-setting characteristics for improved line efficiency and quality.
We work with each customer to select the adhesives and the adhesive application method to achieve higher productivity that match their requirements along with consumer expectations. To find out more, please complete our request form or just give me a call.
