Stitching adhesives is a practice that can offer advantages in some industries - Instead of applying adhesive in one long bead, companies will “stitch” or use small dots of adhesive to cut glue usage and to cut glue costs.
- One of the main components of the stitching process is the module.
A few months ago a manufacturer of pleated filters, who was stitching, came to us with a module problem that they could not solve:
In their process, each glue module was running millions of cycles per week. The constant opening and closing of the valve was causing the module to fail frequently. This failure was causing scrap, downtime and replacement module costs. Instead of asking the customer to stop their stitching process and double the amount of money spent on glue, we came up with a solution.
Our suggestion was to enhance the valve to a higher quality product, so we recommended the ITW Dynatec Marathon Module.
This product has proven to be a long lasting and reliable valve - After replacing their module with our Dynatec marathon module, they eliminated glue dispensing problems in production. The valve is still being turned on and off millions of times per week but is causing zero problems.
The company converted to the Dynatec valve over a year ago and their module failure problem has been resolved. The upfront cost of the marathon module was a little higher but that cost was more than overcome by the savings.
