Going Beyond the Glue

A couple of months ago, a state-of-the-art food processing plant in Ohio started having problems with sealing containers and other gluing issues.

Adhesives for Food Processing Plant in Ohio

As their adhesive supplier, they called us with concerns that the adhesive was a different product, a new formulation or even a bad batch.

When your company has been using the same adhesive without fail for several months or even for many years and then it starts to fail, you may think there is a problem with the adhesive.

More often than not, which was the case for this company, it is actually the adhesive application equipment.

That’s where our Adhesive Equipment Division comes in handy!

Looking at their operations, we noticed they were using Nordson applicators. These applicators were misfiring and misaligning the hot glue which resulted in their containers not getting sealed properly. To compensate, they were using more adhesive to try and correct the problem, which caused a lot of stringing and a lot of waste. When it comes to proper adhesion, using too much glue actually makes the problem worse.

The solution was a simple one and they could not be happier. We changed their adhesive applicators with ITW Dynatec BF MicroBead™ applicators which is a perfect and cost effective fit for any Nordson machines. As stated by their production manager, not only has their downtime has been dramatically reduced but their glue consumption as well.

When your company has been using the same adhesive without fail for several months or even for many years and then it starts to fail, you may think there is a problem with the adhesive. I am agree with this point, we must need to go for better product or services.
