HAR announces success at several paper straw manufacturers!

HAR has become a leader in the re-emerging paper straw industry.  HAR offers several environmentally friendly water based adhesives that meet the stringent requirements of the paper straw industry.  Adhesives that:
  • Are designed for both flood coating and extrusion
  • Include only FDA approved components
  • Surpass the most stringent waters soak tests
  • Demonstrates excellent machining
  • Found to be easier to clean up
  • Found to offer excellent quick tack, excellent bonds and no flagging.
  • Found to improve yields; you use less to get better results

Why not plastic straws

A single plastic straw can take up to 200 years to decompose. An estimated half a billion plastic straws are discarded every day and far too many end up in our oceans.  Plastic straws are not biodegradable – instead, they slowly fragment into smaller and smaller plastics (a.k.a. microplastics), which fish and marine animals mistake for food, ingesting the plastic. It’s estimated that up to 71 percent of seabirds and 30 percent of turtles end up ingesting plastic to their stomachs.  For more information go to https://www.strawlessocean.org/.

Why Paper Straws – Here are the benefits of paper straws
  • Paper straws are biodegradable
  • Paper straws take less amount of time to decompose
  • Switching to paper straws will reduce the use of plastic straws
  • Paper straws are (relatively) affordable
  • Paper straws are safer for wildlife

HAR adhesive Technologies is committed to our future and focusing on paper straws is one small thing we can do.  We believe our commitment to the paper straw industry is more than just a good business decision, it is a statement that we value our ecosystem.  We only have one world and we must do whatever we can to be good stewards of the world that we have been given.

Ask us how we can support your move into the paper straw industry or how we can help your current paper straw operation improve your quality, lower your scrap, increase your productivity and lessen your clean up time.

It's clear that paper straws are still harmful to the environment, even if plastic straws are more harmful. In the end, paper straws still have large environmental consequences, and are definitely not eco-friendly. For the most part, they are still a single-use waste item.

The best environmentally friendly solution is to avoid single-use items altogether in favor of reusables. Reusable alternatives, such as fabric bags or reusable stainless steel or glass water bottles, coffee cups, and straws can be used over and over again in order to reduce throwaway waste and are the best option over paper and plastic.
