Specialty & Reactive Adhesives

Advanced technologies for applications where ordinary adhesives may not be enough.

Some manufacturing applications require higher strength, moisture resistance, temperature resistance, chemical durability, flexibility, gap filling, or extremely fast fixture time.

HAR supports selected specialty and reactive adhesive technologies through our manufacturing partners and technical resources.

A More Technical Conversation

Reactive technologies often require greater attention to cure conditions, surface preparation, storage, shelf life, dispensing, and worker handling.

HAR helps customers evaluate whether the performance advantage justifies the additional process requirements.

Start With the Finished Requirement

Tell us what materials you are bonding, how quickly the parts must be handled, and what the finished bond must withstand.

Technology We Support

Liquid PUR Adhesives

Strong, Durable Bonds for Difficult Applications

Liquid polyurethane reactive (PUR) adhesives create strong, durable bonds through a chemical curing reaction.

They can bond a wide range of substrates and provide excellent resistance to heat, moisture, chemicals, and environmental exposure.

Common applications: Product assembly, woodworking, composites, plastics, foam, transportation, and industrial components.

Why consider liquid PUR?

Liquid PUR is often considered when conventional water-based or hot melt adhesives cannot provide the required strength, durability, environmental resistance, or substrate adhesion.

PUR Hot Melts

Hot Melt Processing with Reactive Performance

Polyurethane reactive hot melts combine the processing advantages of hot melt adhesives with the strength and durability of a chemically cured adhesive.

PUR hot melt develops initial handling strength as it cools and then reacts with moisture to develop a stronger, more durable final bond.

Common applications: Product assembly, woodworking and laminating, automotive components, filters, textiles, and difficult-to-bond materials.

Why consider PUR hot melt?

PUR hot melt can provide faster processing than a traditional reactive adhesive while delivering greater finished-bond performance than a conventional hot melt.

Epoxy Adhesives

High Strength for Structural Applications

Epoxy adhesives provide strong, durable bonds to metals, composites, ceramics, wood, and many plastics.

Available in a range of cure speeds and physical properties, epoxies are commonly selected when an assembly requires structural strength and resistance to demanding environments.

Common applications: Structural assembly, metal and composite bonding, electronics, industrial components, repair, and fabrication.

Why consider epoxy?

When bond strength and long-term durability are priorities, epoxy can provide an excellent structural solution.

Cyanoacrylate Adhesives

Fast Bonding for Precision Assembly

Often called instant adhesives, cyanoacrylates develop strong bonds very quickly using only a small amount of adhesive.

They are especially useful for small-part assembly where fixtures, clamps, or long cure times would slow production.

Common applications: Small-part assembly, rubber and elastomers, plastics, metal components, electronics, and general industrial assembly.

Why consider cyanoacrylate?

When production requires very fast fixture time and precise adhesive application, cyanoacrylates can simplify assembly and improve throughput.

UV-Curable Adhesives

Cure on Demand

UV-curable adhesives remain workable until exposed to the appropriate ultraviolet light, at which point they cure rapidly.

This gives manufacturers precise control over when curing occurs and can provide significant advantages in automated and precision assembly.

Common applications: Glass bonding, electronics, medical and specialty assembly, plastics, precision components, and automated production.

Why consider UV cure?

Controlled curing can improve positioning, increase production speed, and reduce work-in-process time.

Silicone Adhesives and Sealants

Flexible Performance in Demanding Environments

Silicone technologies remain flexible across a broad temperature range and offer excellent resistance to moisture, weathering, and environmental exposure.

They can be used for bonding, sealing, and gasketing where movement or thermal expansion makes a rigid adhesive undesirable.

Common applications: Sealing and gasketing, electronics, industrial assembly, high-temperature applications, and outdoor products.

Why consider silicone?

When flexibility, temperature resistance, or environmental durability is important, silicone can provide an effective long-term solution.

When Your Application Demands More From the Bond

  • raditional water-based or hot melt technologies cannot meet the performance requirement.

  • The finished bond must withstand heat, moisture, chemicals, vibration, or movement.

  • Rapid fixture time is required.

  • A difficult combination of materials requires testing.

  • The application requires structural strength or gap filling.

  • The customer needs guidance regarding curing, storage, handling, safety, or dispensing equipment.
