Start with the adhesive technology you use today—or the one you are considering.

Some customers begin with an industry or application. Others already know they are looking for a water-based adhesive, hot melt, pressure-sensitive adhesive, or reactive technology.

Explore the four adhesive technology groups below to learn where each may fit, the applications commonly served, and the performance factors that should be considered.

Every application is different. Substrates, equipment, line speed, temperature, open time, set speed, curing requirements, and the conditions the finished bond must withstand can all influence the right choice.

That is a perfectly good place to begin.

Explore the technology below to see how we support manufacturers with practical adhesive technologies, application equipment, and technical guidance built around the way they manufacture.

Water-Based Adhesives

Water-Based Adhesives

Industrial water-based adhesive solutions manufactured for packaging, paper converting, tubes and cores, graphic arts, envelopes, woodworking, and other applications requiring dependable performance and manufacturing flexibility.

HAR manufactures a broad line of water-based adhesives at our facilities in Bedford, Ohio, and Cheektowaga, New York.

We support applications ranging from folding cartons, corrugated joints, paper tubes, cores, laminating, and envelopes to padding, woodworking, heat-seal coatings, pressure-sensitive products, and specialty converting.

Our manufacturing capabilities allow us to provide proven formulations, evaluate product adjustments, and develop custom solutions when an application or business opportunity requires a more specialized approach.

Hot Melt Adhesives

Hot Melt Adhesives

High-performance hot melt technologies for packaging, product assembly, mailers, bookbinding, labeling, woodworking, and other applications requiring fast set, clean application, and efficient production.

HAR supplies a broad range of H.B. Fuller hot melt adhesives selected around production speed, open time, set speed, viscosity, temperature resistance, flexibility, clean running, and long-term bond performance.

Available technologies include EVA, metallocene, APAO, polyethylene, pressure-sensitive formulations, and reactive hot melts.

Because the adhesive and application equipment must work together, our adhesive and equipment teams can help evaluate both the product and the way it is being applied.

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives

Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives

Permanent, removable, and repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive technologies for mailers, roll starts, labels, laminating, product assembly, release-liner systems, and specialty coated products.

Pressure-sensitive adhesives remain tacky and form a bond through the application of light pressure.

HAR supports hot melt and water-based pressure-sensitive technologies for peel-and-seal mailers, roll-start applications, labels, assembly, coating, laminating, and other specialty uses.

We consider tack, peel, shear, coat weight, temperature, substrate, liner compatibility, application method, and whether the finished bond must be permanent, removable, repositionable, or activated later by the end user.

Specialty & Reactive Adhesives

Specialty & Reactive Adhesives

Specialty and reactive adhesive technologies for demanding assembly, woodworking, laminating, bookbinding, and industrial applications requiring exceptional strength, durability, rapid cure, or environmental resistance.

Some applications require performance beyond traditional water-based or thermoplastic hot melt technologies.

HAR supports manufacturers with liquid polyurethane, hot melt PUR, cyanoacrylate, epoxy, silicone adhesive, sealant, and other specialized technologies.

These products may provide rapid fixture time, structural strength, flexibility, heat resistance, moisture resistance, chemical resistance, or improved durability.

Because curing, storage, handling, equipment, and safety requirements vary, we begin by understanding the complete manufacturing process.

Not Sure Which Technology Fits?

The adhesive technology you use today may not be the only one capable of meeting your needs.

A different technology may improve:

  • Production speed

  • Bond performance

  • Cleanliness

  • Energy use

  • Adhesive consumption

  • Temperature resistance

  • Moisture resistance

  • Finished-product durability

Tell us what you manufacture, what materials you are bonding, how the adhesive is applied, and what you would like to improve.

We will help you evaluate the practical options without assuming the answer before we understand the process.

Why Companies Contact HAR

Common Reasons Customers Contact HAR

  • Their current adhesive is not performing consistently.

  • Bonds are opening, failing, or not holding to difficult substrates.

  • A current adhesive has been discontinued, become expensive, or is difficult to source.

  • Production speeds have increased and the adhesive is no longer keeping up.

  • Stringing, char, slow set, poor tack, excessive cleanup, or other application issues are affecting production.

  • Adhesive consumption, waste, or application costs are too high.

  • A new substrate, product, or manufacturing process requires adhesive testing.

  • They need an alternative to their current adhesive without sacrificing performance.

  • A new application requires formulation, testing, or technical support.

  • They want adhesive and application-equipment expertise from one responsive team.
